Supporting Rainbow Refugee
Our fall pop-up market is just around the corner and we are super excited! On September 30th, join us at the Heritage Hall in Vancouver (3102 Main Street) to see the beautiful artwork, crafts, jewellery and giftware of 40+ amazing local small businesses. Every market we hold, admissions for attendees are by donation and for every market we pick a different organization to donate the proceeds to. For this market we are donating the proceeds to Rainbow Refugee.
Why Rainbow Refugee?
Rainbow Refugee is a grassroots organization that has been working tirelessly to support LGBTQ refugees from around the world who are in danger of persecution come to Canada to be safe and live freely. The organization is run on the hard work of many volunteers and dedicated staff members.
Below is more information directly from Rainbow Refugee about the work they do in their own words:
Founded in 2000, Rainbow Refugee is a Vancouver based community group that supports people seeking refugee protection in Canada because of persecution based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression (SOGIE) or HIV status.
We bring the perspectives of LGBTQ+ refugees into refugee policy and practice through knowledge exchanges, briefs and testimony to parliament, public and service provider education.
The admission donation raised at our #Madeinthe604 Fall Pop-up Market will be 100% be donated to Rainbow Refugee and a group of 5 sponsorship group that is sponsoring an LGBTQ individual from the Middle East who must be resettled to Canada. The funds will be used to help the individual settle in Canada and live in safety with the basic human rights we are all so fortunate to experience in Canada.
